WHAT IS PROOF OF IDENTITY DOCUMENTATION
Proof of Identity Documentation are documents that support your identity, such as a passport, driver's licence, credit card or bank card, health care card, bank statements or utility bill.
For the purpose of applying for an Australian Passport, a combination of Proof of Identity Documentation, no older than 6 months, is required.
If you are aged 18 or over (or have been married) you must also provide one of the following combinations of original documents to confirm your identity in addition to the passport you are looking to replace:
Combination 1 – two documents, one category A and one category B
Combination 2 – two documents from category B and one official document that includes your photograph
Combination 3 – at least three documents from category C that shows your name and current address and one official document that includes your photograph and signature
Category A
Current driving licence, Foreign residency ID card, Australian birth card
Category B
Health card, Social Security card, Department of Veteran’s Affairs card, Credit or Bank account card, National insurance card, Foreign passport
Category C
Motor vehicle registration or insurance papers, Property rates notice or lease agreement, Home insurance papers, Utilities bills (telephone, gas, electricity etc)
Bank or credit card statements
If the combination of original documentation you are providing does not show your current residential address, you must also provide a document from category C to show your current address. Please note that all documents should be current or no more than 6 months old.
